The Troll Who Went Too Far
An offensive and tasteless troll video on YouTube in which a young woman poses as a devout Christian and asserts that the devastation caused by Japan’s earthquake and tsunami was due to God’s anger at atheists has led to her cancelling her YouTube channel following an international web-based backlash. The woman, with the username tamtampamela, uploaded a video in the days after last week’s massive earthquake and subsequent tsunami, claiming the disaster was “God literally waking people up and saying “You are going to hell”.
Just hours before she took her account down from YouTube she uploaded a new video, in which she admits to being a troll. She says, “I’ve been making troll videos for awhile now, but this last one seems to have pissed off a lot of people, which was my intention, but at this point I’m kinda tired of pizza so I’m gonna let the cat out of the bag. Comin’ clean. It was fun guys so, uh, yeah I guess I’ll see ya.”

She doesn’t seem to realize what was wrong with what she did.
She looks like a kid that just got yelled at, caves in, but doesn’t understand why she has to.
Spoiled brat or psychotic?
Sad in any case.
Very true David, and very sad.
4chan, do your thing..
When I first heard about this from my wife (who had seen it on a viral propagation), I just decided I didn’t want to see it (whether it was real or not). The great thing about the internet (as you can with most things) – you can decide NOT pay any attention to it. Whether it was real or not – I knew instantly that I didn’t want to waste time on it…. which was my first reaction when I saw you’d posted about it.
Still…in some ways we need this communication to just remind us just how warped some people’s view of the world is – even those that think it’s reasonable to invent fake messages for the purpose of being noticed…. I feel sorry for her however. She may well have been noticed in ways that she might regret.
Hope everything is going well, reesan, and you’re keeping your spirits up.
thanks for dropping by ben. it was a very insensitive and infuriating parody about the devastation in japan, all because the troll wanted a reaction. maybe i helped feed the troll by reposting the vid, but the good news is that the enormous negative reaction that she received forced her to cancel her youtube account.
