“We’d rather light than fight!” or “I’d walk a mile across feudal Japan for a Camel.”

Apparently a behind the scenes pic of Toshiro Mifune in Sanjuro.

“You’ve come a long way baby!”

Top notch Loco! Gotta love the way that tobacco companies used to try to drive brand awareness and brand preference amongst smokers. Damn I miss it.
How about the full ad text for the Virginia Slims slogan “You’ve come a long way, baby.”:
“Back then, every man gave his wife at least one day a week out of the house. You’ve come a long way, baby. Virginia Slims – Slimmer than the fat cigarettes men smoke.”
Awesome… I love those types of pictures.
I agree David. Gives a sense of nostalgia.
Ha. This was my Facebook pic for a while.
“Mifune smoked…” Almost got me addicted.
I’m hearin’ ya Mr. S. Mifune just has that cool “I wanna take a puff” look about him.
Mifune Toshiro was what Clint Eastwood was only trying to be, and John Wayne…? Please.
(I actually respect Eastwood’s directing, and even his acting in the Leone ‘spaghetti westerns’, which were many of them copies of Kurosawa/Mifune ‘chanbara’: but put Eastwood’s ‘Man with no name’ against Mifune’s ‘yojimbo’… No contest. Eastwood achieved it just once: the final gunfight in ‘The Unforgiven’.)
“And thus, SARS was born.” Love the pic!
